Tunnel City is a small unincorporated community located in Monroe County, Wisconsin. It is situated along Interstate 90 in the southeastern part of the state. The community was named after a railroad tunnel that was constructed in the area in the late 1800s.
Today, Tunnel City is primarily an agricultural area with many farms surrounding the town. There are also a few small businesses located in the community, including a gas station, a tavern, and a post office.
Tunnel City is located near several popular outdoor recreational areas, including the Elroy-Sparta State Trail, which is a 32-mile-long trail that passes through three tunnels and is used for hiking, biking, and snowmobiling. The town is also located near the Kickapoo River State Wildlife Area and the Necedah National Wildlife Refuge.
